Heralding a New Era Of Hip-Hop Supergroups Is CHHK
Hip-hop is alive and well, and so is CHHK. The College of Hip Hop Knowledge (CHHK) has dropped their latest single, "Sleepy Cypher," a song rife with collaboration, raw energy, and elite lyricism. This single is the first from a new supergroup and will be featured on an eagerly anticipated album called ASleep in Class, the entire album produced by SleepyKid, due in March next year.
“Sleepy Cypher” reflects the evolution of CHHK since its launch in 2015. With roots that trace back to a desire to help independent hip-hop artists, which was born thanks to an initiative by Big Mic and Jsun The Prophesor, the CHHK has grown into a diversity of talent, with some of the best minds and emcees in the business. The single features delicious wordplay, dynamic flows, and a production style that makes its nostalgic boom-bap ethos feel fresh and contemporary. It is an ideal teaser for a project that is set to challenge creative limits while remaining true to hip-hop’s fundamentals.
The track embodies the essence of hip-hop: unity, storytelling, and a love for the arts. "LnP," along with the previously released, intricately layered bars atop SleepyKid’s immersive beats, “Sleepy Cypher,” are statement tracks announcing CHHK’s mission to lay down some ground rules.
As the group prepares to release their album, “Sleepy Cypher” is an audacious introduction to their future output. Heads up, hip-hop heads: CHHK is only getting started.
